Neurodiversity Awareness for Licensed Premises – Level 1

This Level 1 Neurodiversity Awareness course is designed for staff working in licensed premises such as pubs, bars, clubs and restaurants. It introduces the concept of neurodiversity in a clear and accessible way, helping staff understand that people think, communicate and experience environments differently. The course focuses on awareness, empathy and practical considerations that support positive experiences for customers and colleagues. The aim is to encourage understanding and respectful behaviour — not diagnosis, labelling or clinical intervention. This is a level 1 CPD qualification. 0.5 CPD Hours 

By completing this course, learners will gain awareness of: What neurodiversity means in simple terms Common types of neurodivergent conditions at an awareness level How noise, lighting, crowds and interaction can affect individuals differently Recognising potential signs of distress or overwhelm Respectful communication and behavioural expectations Simple, practical adjustments at an awareness level When to respond calmly, offer support or escalate concerns

Licensed premises can be busy, noisy and unpredictable environments, which may be challenging for neurodivergent customers or colleagues. Poor awareness can result in: Misunderstandings or unnecessary conflict Customers feeling excluded or unsafe Complaints or reputational damage Escalation of situations that could have been handled calmly This course helps staff build confidence, patience and understanding when interacting with a diverse range of people.

This course is suitable for: Bar and front‑of‑house staff Floor staff and supervisors Door staff and stewards (awareness level) Duty managers and licence holders New starters and existing employees No previous neurodiversity or inclusion training is required.

On successful completion, learners receive a CPD‑recognised certificate, suitable for: Staff training records CPD portfolios Evidence for inspections or internal audits This course equates to 0.5 CPD hours, consistent with other Click2Comply Level 1 awareness courses.
