Manual handling is a common part of working in licensed premises and includes lifting, carrying, pushing or pulling items such as stock, kegs, crates, glassware and trays. Poor manual handling is a leading cause of workplace injuries in hospitality environments. This short CPD course provides staff with practical manual‑handling awareness relevant to licensed premises. It focuses on recognising risk, applying basic safe‑lifting principles, understanding when not to lift, and knowing when to ask for help or report concerns. The course is proportionate, role‑appropriate and designed to support staff safety, health and safety compliance, and due diligence.

This course is suitable for: Bar and front‑of‑house staff Floor staff and supervisors Door staff and security teams Managers and duty managers Premises licence holders and DPSs No prior safeguarding training is required.

On successful completion of this course, learners are awarded a CPD‑recognised certificate. The certificate provides formal evidence of continuing professional development and can be retained for individual CPD records, staff training files, or inspection purposes. This activity equates to 0.25 CPD hours. Certificates are available to download immediately after achieving the required pass mark in the end‑of‑course assessment.
