Recognising Vulnerability & Safeguarding (Licensed Premises)

Licensed premises are busy, fast‑paced environments with specific health and safety risks linked to alcohol service, crowds, glassware and late‑night operation. While staff are not expected to conduct formal risk assessments, they are expected to work safely, recognise hazards and report concerns promptly. This short CPD course provides staff with practical health and safety awareness relevant to licensed premises. It focuses on recognising common risks, following safe working practices, understanding basic fire safety, and knowing when and how to report hazards or incidents. The course is proportionate, role‑appropriate and designed to support both public safety and licensing confidence.

By completing this course, learners will gain practical knowledge on: Why health and safety matters in licensed premises Common health and safety risks in bars and hospitality venues How slips, trips, glass and manual handling injuries occur Basic fire safety and emergency awareness What staff should do to work safely When and how to report hazards, accidents or near‑misses Why records demonstrate due diligence during inspections

This course is suitable for: Bar and front‑of‑house staff Floor staff and supervisors Door staff and security teams Managers and duty managers Premises licence holders and DPSs No prior health and safety training is required.

On successful completion of this course, learners are awarded a CPD‑recognised certificate. The certificate provides formal evidence of continuing professional development and can be retained for individual CPD records, staff training files, or inspection purposes. This activity equates to 0.25 CPD hours. Certificates are available to download immediately after achieving the required pass mark in the end‑of‑course assessment.
