GDPR & Data Protection Awareness (Licensed Premises)

This Level 1 GDPR & Data Protection Awareness course is designed for staff working in licensed premises such as pubs, bars, restaurants and entertainment venues. It introduces the basics of data protection and GDPR, helping staff understand what personal data is, why it must be protected, and how everyday actions can either support or undermine compliance. The course focuses on awareness and good practice — not legal interpretation — and supports safer handling of customer and staff information. This Level 1 CPD-certified course provides 0.5 CPD hours on completion.

Licensed premises regularly handle personal data, including: Staff records CCTV footage Incident and refusal logs Booking details and customer information Poor data handling can lead to complaints, fines, reputational damage and loss of trust. This course helps staff understand expectations and avoid common mistakes that cause data protection breaches.

This course is suitable for: Bar and front‑of‑house staff Supervisors and duty managers Door staff and stewards (awareness level) Office, admin or rota staff New starters and existing employees No prior GDPR or data protection training is required.

On successful completion of this course, learners are awarded a CPD‑recognised certificate. The certificate provides formal evidence of continuing professional development and can be retained for individual CPD records, staff training files, or inspection purposes. This activity equates to 0.5 CPD hours. Certificates are available to download immediately after achieving the required pass mark in the end‑of‑course assessment.
