Disability Awareness – Level 1 (Licensed Premises)

This Level 1 Disability Awareness course is designed for staff working in licensed premises such as pubs, bars, clubs and restaurants. It introduces disability awareness in a practical, accessible way, helping staff understand different types of disability, the importance of inclusive behaviour, and how everyday actions can positively or negatively affect customers and colleagues. The course focuses on awareness, empathy and good practice, not medical, legal or diagnostic detail. This is a Level 1 CPD Qualification. 1 CPD hour.

By completing this course, learners will gain awareness of: What disability means and the different types of disability Visible and non‑visible disabilities Barriers disabled people may face in licensed premises Respectful communication and appropriate behaviour Reasonable adjustments at an awareness level How inclusive service supports customer safety and dignity When concerns should be escalated or support offered

Licensed premises welcome people from all walks of life, including customers with disabilities that may not always be obvious. Poor awareness can lead to: Customer complaints and reputational damage Unintentional discrimination Unsafe or uncomfortable experiences Licensing and inspection concerns This course helps staff improve confidence, understanding and professionalism when serving all customers.

This course is suitable for: Bar and front‑of‑house staff Floor staff and supervisors Door staff and stewards (awareness level) Duty managers and licence holders New starters and existing employees No prior disability awareness training is required.

On successful completion, learners receive a CPD‑recognised certificate, suitable for: Staff training records CPD portfolios Licensing or inspection evidence This course equates to 0.5 CPD hours, consistent with other Click2Comply awareness courses.
